Crowns & bridges
A well-made crown should blend in completely. Getting there depends on shade, translucency and a precise margin at the gum line.

What it involves
Dr. Yeterian learned ceramics in his father's dental laboratory before he studied dentistry, and he still designs his own cases today. It is one reason patients come to us to have older crowns with a visible gray line replaced.
Modern all-ceramic materials remove the metal core responsible for that shadow, letting light pass through the restoration much the way it does through natural enamel. Bridges are built to the same standard, with the added goal of keeping the gap easy to clean and comfortable.
Materials
All-ceramic and zirconia; no metal core, no grey line at the gum

Who this is for
Step by step
We shape the tooth to receive the crown and take a digital or physical impression to send to the lab.
A temporary crown protects the tooth and lets you test the shape and bite while the final piece is made.
The permanent crown or bridge is built off-site, typically over one to two weeks, shaded and shaped to our dentist's specification.
We cement the permanent piece once the fit, shade and bite are checked against the adjacent teeth.
Afterwards
Same day
The tooth may feel tender from the anesthetic and slightly sensitive to temperature for a day or two after preparation.
First week
The temporary crown should be treated gently. Avoid very sticky or hard food until the permanent one is cemented.
Long term
A well-fitted crown or bridge is cared for like a natural tooth, though the margin should be checked at routine cleanings.
Crown and bridge fees vary with the material, the number of units involved, and how much of the underlying tooth needs building up first, so the written estimate follows the examination rather than a phone quote.
That estimate is provided before your tooth is touched, and covers the preparation visit, the lab fee and the final fitting as one figure rather than a series of surprises.
As an out-of-network practice we still prepare and submit the claim for you. Payment can be made by card or HSA or FSA funds.
Other ways to go
Removes far less tooth structure, but only suits a tooth that is largely intact rather than heavily broken down.
Read moreSometimes reasonable if the tooth is stable and symptom-free, though a crack can spread without warning.
Why patients choose us for this
Dr. Yeterian grew up around a dental laboratory and still designs the shade and contour of every crown he places.
All-ceramic and zirconia materials remove the dark shadow that older metal-based crowns can leave at the gum.
Most crown failures start at the tooth underneath, not the porcelain, which is why fit at the margin is treated as the priority.

“I have known my dentist, Masis Yeterian, since he was a child. I never thought he would grow up to become my dentist. Not many people can say they enjoy going to the dentist. I most certainly do. His office is pristine and his staff have the best people skills.”

Q & A
This is usually an older, metal-based crown showing through gum tissue that has thinned with age. Replacing it with an all-ceramic crown removes that shadow completely.
Ten to twenty years is typical, and grinding is the main factor that shortens that lifespan. What usually gives out first is not the porcelain but the tooth underneath, which is why a precise margin matters so much.
If the tooth is largely intact, a veneer or bonding preserves far more of your natural structure. A crown is the right choice for a tooth that is already heavily filled, cracked, or root-treated and needs full coverage.
We numb the tooth before any shaping, so the appointment itself is not painful. Some tenderness for a day or two afterward is normal, especially if the tooth was already sensitive.
Two visits about one to two weeks apart is typical, one to prepare the tooth and fit a temporary, one to seat the finished crown once the lab has made it.
It depends on the material and how many units are involved, so we examine the tooth first and give you the total in writing before any preparation.
You can eat, but it is worth avoiding very sticky or hard foods on that side, since a temporary is not cemented as permanently as the final piece will be.
