What to Expect
Describe what happened and how it feels. We tell you what to do in the next hour and hold time in the schedule.
An exam and X-ray to find the source — a cracked tooth, an abscess, a loose filling — rather than guessing from the symptom alone.
Whatever gets you comfortable that day: draining an abscess, temporarily sealing a tooth, adjusting a sharp edge.
Once the emergency has passed, we discuss the lasting fix — a filling, crown, root canal, or extraction — and its cost, before booking it.
The emergency visit is priced on its own, based on what it takes to get you out of pain that day. The lasting repair, if one is needed, is a separate written estimate, because until we can see the tooth on an X-ray we do not know whether it is a filling or a root canal. We file the claim on your behalf either way, and you do not need to already be a patient here to be seen. Dr. Marwaha and Dr. Yeterian both work from the same record, so whoever sees you first knows what happens next.
Not every dental issue feels the same, which can make it difficult to know what requires immediate attention. Severe pain, swelling, trauma, or anything that disrupts your ability to eat or function comfortably may be an emergency. If you are unsure, the best step is to call our office — you can reach one of the doctors through the answering system and they will help determine whether you should be seen right away.
Waiting too long to address a dental issue can lead to more serious complications. What starts as discomfort can quickly develop into infection, damage, or more complex treatment needs. Same-day care allows us to evaluate the problem early, relieve pain, and stop it from progressing — which usually makes treatment simpler and less stressful.
We approach every patient concern with urgency and care. We don't sort patients into "emergency" and "non-emergency" categories; we treat every issue as important and deserving of attention. Our doctors are accessible and responsive, so you leave the call knowing what is happening and what happens next.
Emergency Q & A
Tooth pain
Rinse your mouth with warm water and avoid chewing on that side. Call our office so we can help determine the cause and the next steps.
Pain may temporarily ease, but the underlying issue usually remains. It's best to have it evaluated early.
A crown coming off
Keep the crown safe and avoid chewing on that side. Call our office so we can guide you and schedule care.
It may not always be painful, but the tooth is exposed and vulnerable, so it should be addressed promptly.
A loose or knocked-out tooth
Handle the tooth by the crown, not the root, and try to place it back in the socket if possible. If not, store it in milk and seek care immediately.
Yes, in some cases, if treated quickly. Timing is critical, so call right away.
Bleeding and trauma
Apply gentle pressure with clean gauze and contact our office. If bleeding is severe, seek urgent medical care.
Rinse your mouth with water, apply a cold compress, and call us immediately. We'll guide you on whether you need to be seen right away.
Broken restorations
Avoid chewing on the affected area and contact us. We'll assess the situation and restore the tooth as needed.
Swelling and infection
Swelling can indicate infection and should be evaluated quickly. Call our office for guidance.
Pain, swelling, fever, or a bad taste in your mouth may indicate infection. These symptoms should not be ignored.
Contact us immediately. Early treatment can prevent the infection from spreading.
We are at 211 East Putnam Avenue, Suite 2-6, Cos Cob, minutes from central Greenwich, Riverside and Old Greenwich, with parking on site.
