Preventive & family dentistry
Regular cleanings and thorough exams remain the most valuable thing we do for your long-term oral health, and every visit on this page is built around that idea.
Preventive and family dentistry is the everyday care that keeps teeth and gums healthy for life: professional cleanings, thorough exams, digital X-rays when they are needed, oral cancer screenings, fluoride and sealants for children, and night guards for people who clench or grind. The goal is simple. We look after your mouth while it is healthy, so problems are found early or never start.
Preventive dentistry is the best kind of dentistry. A small cavity caught early is a quick, comfortable filling. Left for a few years, the same spot can need a root canal and a crown. Early gum inflammation can be reversed with good cleanings and home care, while advanced gum disease can cost you teeth. Regular visits are how we tell the difference while the easy fix is still possible.
That is why we recommend coming in to Greenwich Dental Studio for a routine checkup and cleaning twice a year, every six months. At each visit your hygienist removes the plaque and tartar that brushing and flossing miss, and your dentist checks every tooth, your gums, your bite and the soft tissues of your mouth. Some patients with gum concerns benefit from visits more often, and we will tell you if that applies to you.
Most of the restorative work we do began as something small that went unnoticed for a few years. Preventive dentistry is not glamorous, but it is the reason many of our patients have gone their whole lives without needing a crown.
We welcome families of all ages, from a toddler's first visit to a grandparent's routine checkup, and we keep the same doctors involved in your care so nothing gets overlooked and nothing has to be explained twice.

Where to start
Start with Dental Cleanings & Exams. That visit tells us, and you, what else is worth scheduling.
That is worth measuring rather than ignoring. Gum Disease Treatment is where we chart it and decide what, if anything, needs treatment.
Children's Dentistry covers first visits through the early school years, seen alongside a parent's own appointment where the schedule allows.
Mouthguards & Night Guards fits a guard from your own impressions, made to protect your teeth far better than one from a pharmacy shelf.
Your first appointment
A first preventive visit with us combines two things done properly: a hygiene appointment and a thorough examination. Our hygienists take the time to finish the job well, including the areas below the gum line that a rushed cleaning tends to miss.
The examination that follows covers decay, gum measurements, bite wear and an oral cancer screening, with digital X-rays taken only when there is a real reason for them. You leave with a clear picture of what looks healthy, what we will watch, and what needs treatment next.
If it has been years since your last cleaning, or your child has never sat in a dental chair, just let us know. We adjust the pace of the visit so nothing here depends on you already knowing the routine.
Who looks after this
Dr. Angela Marwaha leads preventive and family care. Her training in general and preventive dentistry, along with her residency at Morristown Medical Center, shapes the exams, cleanings and children's visits described on this page.
Meet the doctorsQ & A
We are out-of-network, which allows both doctors to treat you without a plan dictating your interval or materials. We file the claim on your behalf and give you a written estimate of your cost before the visit.
Routine hygiene visits are usually available within a couple of weeks. Call our office and we will find the soonest appointment that fits your schedule, especially for a first-time patient.
Yes, from around their first birthday, and siblings can often be scheduled back to back with a parent's own appointment so one morning covers the whole family.
Gum measurements guide that decision, not habit. We chart pocket depths at your exam and walk you through the numbers, so a deeper cleaning is recommended only when the chart calls for it.
A new-patient exam, X-rays and a routine cleaning are quoted as a single figure by phone before you come in. If anything beyond that is needed, we provide a written estimate at the visit rather than adding it without discussion.
